I can't even describe to you the number of days that I snooze my alarm clock in the morning and barely have enough time left to shower, let alone handle the mess that is my hair. When this happens (which is more times than not, whoops...) my only saving grace is a a healthy serving of sea salt spray. Like I mentioned, this happens to me at least half of the days out of any given week, and therefore my wave sprays and I have become pretty close pals. I have been using the above products religiously, testing to see which would be dubbed my 'best friend' out of the lot. Oh, and just for reference - I used the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to create the style in the image above. So here's the verdict:

Philip B 'Maui Wowie Beach' Hair Mist: They say, "The formula gives your hair the look and feel of random texture and body for a sultry just-off-the-beach-look." I spray this on when my hair is about halfway dry and twist with my fingers in the direction facing away from my face. I find that this one needs a bit of help - which is why the finger trick comes in handy. I like the finish it gives, but don't go spritz-crazy with this, as it can end up with that dreaded brillo-pad finish if you don't watch it. It isn't the easiest of the three to use, but I do like the result after a light misting everywhere but my roots. I am not sure that I get along the best with the scent either, it's a tad reminiscent of household cleaning products, but it does get points in the packaging department. Oooh, luxe...

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray: They say, "Sexy, beachy, windswept styles - whenever, wherever." I have had the longest standing relationship with this product; plenty of years of testing go into this review. For years I wasn't sure how I felt about this product, until I attempted walking out of the door with completely natural 'waves' one morning. Oh my, not a good look. I don't think I realized how much this settled down my frizz, but also added volume in all the right places. It doesn't smell like much, in my opinion, but it does create beachy spirals that last, without all the finger-twisting nonsense. An easy winner in my book.

TONY&GUY Casual Sea Salt Texturizing Spray: They say, "This light hold spray adds texture and volume without weighing strands down, creating natural-looking beachy waves." I picked this one up on a whim and actually hadn't heard much about it. First off, it is the only one of the three that makes me wan't to bury my nose in my hair and sniff all day. Weird, I know. I do notice that this is almost like a two-in-one hairspray and waver, if that makes sense. It ignites that natural kink that most everyone has in their hair, but does require a bit of the finger-shaping technique to get it looking right. This one is my second favorite, I would say.

Are there any wave-aid favorites that I am missing out on? Let me know in the comments section.

The beachy backgrounds are a bit of a teaser, no? Well, maybe not for some of us. While I may not be able to find a solution to the dreary weather we've been having as of late, I do have a solution to the drab skin conditions that are hanging around as a result of the missing sunshine. Enter this trio, of face base wonders. One is a newer release (Hello Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet) and the other two just some items that are my go-to glow-getters. I swear by these products when my skin is lackluster and in need of something that is both a quick fix and guarantees results every time.

I start with a properly cleansed and moisturized face and then whip out my Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base  as the next step. This is a soothing and hydrating product that brightens the complexion and corrects the skin tone without looking like your wearing the additional layer of makeup. This is essentially an instagram filter for your face - it maximizes the overall finish of your foundation resulting in a much more skin-like finish. Best of all is it comes in two universal shades, I use 02 Champagne because I think this one has a bit more coverage. After my primer is applied, I go in with a dollop or two of the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet (full review to come) and buff that into the skin until the desired coverage is achieved.

The last step here is super simple, requires no tools, and makes a world of difference in terms of that illumination we're going for. Why yes, I am talking about the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer. If you can't tell by the close up of the product I provided, it has a really fine, yet sheeny iridescence and the texture of a light gloss. It blends seamlessly and is almost undetectable (unless you are way too close for comfort) on the skin, yet does the trick of adding that dewiness we all love. I apply it by lightly tapping my finger in a "C" shape starting from below my pupil along my cheekbone - and ending above my brow in the same manner. I also tap the excess on my cupid's bow and on the inner corner of my eye for that extra dose of, "Hey Guys, I did sleep last night - promise!"

What are products that you rely on for a glow in a hurry?

Judging by the sheer volume of purchases I have made in the last few weeks, they have been stressful ones. Strolling through the aisles of Sephora and beauty halls of department stores are the best therapy. Sometimes just looking around does the trick, but lately, I have had my eye on some new spring-fever inducing launches and here are the purchases to prove it. I hope I will also have some rave reviews for you after road-testing these purchases.

First off I had to try out the new Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation from Chanel. I refrained from buying this for a few weeks hoping that it would leave my thoughts, but it hasn't. I have seen instagram and blog posts galore raving and gushing about the finish of this foundation. My favorite foundation of all time is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua so I thought this might be one for me as well - will report back on my findings.

Another item I had my eye on was the Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Powder, after seeing it on Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup where it looked too pretty to pass up. I am not much of a blush girl, as I have a hard time finding ones that don't end up looking like dirt smears by the end of the day. TMI, I know. This one seems to be up my street so far, no brown tones, just glow; but we shall see..

Some repurchases include the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light and Lightscapade. I have always used the Medium color in this product but have been finding it too dark as of late. It is my favorite powder as it does just what it 'ought to do. Adds some staying power to your foundation and some glow to that mug. Also note the refurbished packaging; I like, I like.

A few other bits include the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil to fill that scar in my left brow; a battlewound reminiscent of a fight I had with my brother back in the day. I also picked up the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Amethyst,  and the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy in hopes of combating these tired ol' eyes.

So maybe we don't all have the natural Cara Delevigne brow thing going on. Who's with me there? But don't fret - I've got two products out to save your bad brow day. Dingy, overly-plucked, or overly drawn-in brows can take your whole look down a notch, and they age you. Brushed-up brows are a 'thing' right now for a reason. They instantly add an uplifted appearance to your face and can even take years off your look. Here are my two go-to products for a brow look that are just the ticket.

Benefit High-Brow: A product that lifts the appearance of your brows. It is a shell-pink colored chubby pencil with a creamy consistency. When drawn directly under the brow and blended until it is no longer noticeable - the result it gives also adds a sneaky definition to your brows without the look of more product.

Benefit Gimme Brow: A brow-volumizing fiber-gel. That might seem like a mouthful, but it works miracles on your brows. It is one of the only products that I have come across in my journeys that actually give you the appearance of naturall thicker, shaplier, more 3-D brows without giving that dreaded chalky brow effect.
