THE REVIEW: DIOR ADDICT FLUID STICK

I spotted these Dior Addict Fluid Sticks of the future a few months ago on the instagrams of various bloggers, and since then have been on a serious mission to try them out. I finally found them at my local Dior counter about two weeks ago, and although the last thing I needed was another lip product, this was one of those I couldn't miss out on. I gravitated toward a shade somewhere in the middle of the range, called Rieuse, which is a not too bright but definitely not too muted coral. I will let you be the judge on this one,  because nobody knows what will suit you better than you, after all

I would describe the formula as being similar to that of the YSL Rouge Pur Couture gloss/stains except that these are a bit more moisturizing and have a bit of a jelly texture. I think the pigmentation is really there and I like that you can layer it on to become bolder without it looking too gloopy, like I have found with some other products. In terms of staying power, I have to say I was impressed. I used just a swipe of this on my upper and lower lip around noon, had lunch and some drinks (it was the weekend after all) and by dinner time it was still there. Not only was it still there, but what I was most happy about was that it hadn't gravitated toward the outline of my lips and it was still evenly coated throughout.

My one recommendation when it comes to wearing these is to let it be the center focus of your makeup. I think that while it can be subtle, I looks much more fresh and like a pop of healthy color when it is worn with a minimal makeup look. What I used for the above look consisted of a primer, a light dose of foundation, some concealer around the eyes, a tiny bit of highlighter in place of eyeshadow, a helping of mascara, and a tiny bit of blush on the upper apples of the my cheeks. I found that it was the little bit of blush (I used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy) that made all the difference because it stopped the rest of the face from looking too flat, while at the same time, tying back to the lip color.

So, how do you guys feel about these - are you dashing out the door to pick one up or will you pass them up? Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
