Rarely in mornings do I have time for fancy schmancy eye makeup, nor do I like the look of a "prom" eye while at work. I do, however, use a wash of color on my lids on a daily basis to define my eyes and make me look more polished. One of my favorite looks that I think complement everyone, is a no-fuss smokey shadow look using just one or two shadows in a neutral type shade blended imperfectly onto the lid. Think the Olsen twins' makeup, not a Kim Kardashian smokey eye using thirty products per lid. Ain't nobody got time for that!

In order to help achieve this in the same time it takes for you to brew your morning cup, may I recommend you a cheat, or two? Lately I have been loving cream shadow sticks, as I mentioned in my May favorites post yesterday, for their ease of use and their multidimensional results. What I find works best is to start the entire face by doing the brows, then applying a shadow primer, and then smudging my stick of choice, ByTerry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock along the lid. I then go in with a MAC 217 (best blending brush ever?) and just use small circular motions to blend out any harsh lines into the crease until the transition appears seamless. Be sure to do the blending directly after applying the product, as it is super creamy but sets to a no-budge finish and will not move. To finish off with some definition and something that ties it all together, I swipe the Nars Larger than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Bourbon Street, a beautiful muted purple along my water line and super close along my top lash line. Grab a pencil brush to blend the upper liner in, curl and coat those lashes and voila! I'd say this is one of those looks that might be almost too easy…I think this is my new go-to of the moment.

Would you wear this look on a daily basis? Do you have any tips for a quick 'lived in' eye look?
