FLUSHED WINTER CHEEK COLOURS

Being outside in the colder months can wreak some serious havoc on your freshly applied makeup, especially on those windy mornings. You're eyeliner runs down your face in a stream of tears, mascara smudges with the wipe of an eye...I'm sure you've fallen victim to the winter winds yourself before. Through all the turmoil, however, there is a silver lining, and that is the gorgeously natural flush that the wind leaves on the cheeks. Too bad that doesn't happen everyday, and most of the time when it does, the rest of your makeup ends up looking a mess so you can't even properly enjoy that 'just walked in the snow' glow that you've got. Lucky for us there are some products that we can turn to to give us that same uber natural and winter appropriate cheek that goes perfectly with any makeup look.

Perricone MD No Blush Blush // The title of this product says it all - dot onto cheeks where you know you would normally flush when you've come in from the cold to accentuate cheekbones. It's the perfect 'one shade fits all' color that looks like it was made from crushed rose petals and contains no shimmer to deter anyone from thinking that you've gone au natural

YSL Creme de Blush in shade 9 // I'd imagine this is the better option for the fairer skinned ladies out there. You don't have to worry about going in too heavy-handed with the application as this bouncy mousse-like blush melts right into the skin leaving the color only where you want it to be. I suggest tapping this into the apples and not blending, as too much of the color may be taken off by the brush with any stroking motions. The color may look a bit bright in the pot, but on the skin it creates the most dainty and beautiful light pink toned shade that livens up a dull winter complexion instantly.

RMS Lip2Cheek in Smile // This is a great all-rounder product for creating that winter windswept vibe. A fresh coral pink that produces a true stain on the cheeks and lips, this creamy pot can fool even someone standing next your face into thinking it's all yours. The slight red tone in the product is what really makes this look like you're blushing, and the pink keeps things from looking ruddy. The perfect combination in my opinion.

Do you use any products that recreate this same effect? I'd love for you to share!

  1. These are great picks! I love the windblown look. I love Tarte's Amazonian Clay blush in Natural Beauty for this. It's a bright red but somehow, super flattering and very natural looking on the skin. Happy Monday!

  2. All so gorgeous! I absolutely adore the shades you've chosen. Cream blushes are just perfect for giving that natural glow, without being shimmery. They really meld with the skin too!
