MY MAC PALETTE

It's hard not to get caught up in the latest and greatest when it comes to beauty product show and tell. And while I love new releases, I think it might be about time I showed you something I always have handy and use on a regular basis, my MAC Custom Palette. So, here are the shades inside my personalized palette and my recommendations for anyone looking to start one of their own.

Top Row, L to R // Vanilla, Ricepaper, Omega, Era, Patina
Middle Row, L to R // All that Glitters, Soba, Tempting, Espresso, Concrete
Bottom Row, L to R // Sable, Cranberry, Antiqued, Sumptuous Olive, Club

When it comes to eyeshadows, I like to use a combination of satin and matte textures, and tend to reach for more shimmery options come nighttime. While I've mastered my daily makeup and a range of other looks, I'm certainly no makeup artist, so this is just what works best for me in terms of both time and ease of application.

For daytime, the shade out of the palette that gets the most wear is undoubtedly Patina, which is similar to Burberry Pale Barley (side note: has the shade been discontinued?!) in that it's a cool-toned pale brown that's buttery in texture, but this one is grayer and less golden. The other two that I wear on an everyday basis are Era (champagne taupe) and All that Glitters (pink-champagne with golden flecks), which both look great worn all over the lid or as a base for black winged liner. For transition shades, Omega and Concrete are firm favorites, as they help to define the socket without looking too stark. Tempting is one of my all-time favorite bronze shades, as it has incredible depth, and I really enjoy using Club on nights out, as it has this great duo-chrome effect that looks brown, and then purple or bit green depending on the way the light hits it.

I'm happy with the shades in my palette at the current moment and think together they create a nice spectrum of color, all neutral enough to be mixed and matched to create different looks. I would definitely repurchase the shades I mentioned above, but I'd also love to try another matte shade, as well as something a bit different from my usual neutrals. Do you have any favorite MAC shades that you think I should try next?
