Candles are one of my favorite ways to add a touch of warmth to the home. It's crazy how such a small object can have such a large overall impact on the ambience of a space. So, it should come as no surprise that I am always on the hunt for an exceptionally beautiful candle - and that's exactly what I found in Carrière Frères.

The brand name translates to the Carrière brothers, which gives us a bit of insight into the history of centuries-old candle company. The brand was founded in 1884 during the dawn of the industrial revolution, when the entrepreneurial brothers set out to reinvent the candle making process. They were able to create smooth and long burning candles, taking home the gold medal at the 1889 Universal Exposition, even going on to become the official wax supplier to Sacrè-Coeur in Paris. The scents are singular, but have an amazing depth, and are inspired by the scientific discovery of different flowers, woods, fruits, and herbs.

The scents are unique and fresh, and the selection I have here are especially perfect for the holiday season - but in the most nonintrusive way. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a typical holiday scent, but after a few hours they can get a bit intense and give me a headache. Zingiber is a fresh ginger scent that smells a bit lemony and a bit spicy. Ebenus smells of ebony trees, which give off an addictive vanilla-laced, powdery woods scent when the wood from the tree is burned. Titio smells of smoked grass and cinders, like firewood burning on a cold winter night - a truly primal and comforting scent.

I do find that these candles burn more smoothly and evenly than others that I have burned in the past - much more so than my previous favorites Diptyque and Byredo. They have quickly risen to the top of my favorite candles list and all have incredible scent throw as well. Even the glass jars are lacquered by hand and the fragrances are created in Grasse - the perfume capital of the world.

Have you tried Carrière Frères candles yet?

As a twenty-something, pore size and an oily t-zone are skin concerns that I'm working to combat on a daily basis. I'll never be able to stress enough the importance of regular exfoliation for keeping skin smooth, blemish-free, and radiant.

I am always on the lookout for exfoliators that can be used multiple times a week, if not almost everyday. That means the product has to be gentle. It's for these reasons that I love the Farmacy New Day Gentle Exfoliating Grains with echinacea green envy. I've written about Farmacy products previously, but they are a relatively new brand that launched at Sephora, QVC, and online at

Like all of their products, the Gentle Exfoliating Grains contain an array of natural ingredients that are kind to skin. The product contains rice bran powder, white willow bark, cranberry seeds, marshmallow and green tea - all of which work together to create a deliciously gentle exfoliant. The result is a deeper clean, a clarified and brighter complexion, and a mattified t-zone free of surface impurities. But best of all, it's quick and easy to use. You simply pour out about a quarter size into the palm of your hand and add a bit of water to create a foamy cream exfoliator that can be buffed into skin in circular motions to lift away dead skin cells.

The product retails for $30, but to me these little grains make for a truly luxurious cleansing experience. I use this about 4-5 times per week on average, and have to say that my skin has been much smoother, there are much fewer blackheads, and my overall complexion is brighter. You can really tell the difference that these make when going to apply makeup as well. No foundation or powder clings to dry patches or dead skin thanks to the New Day Exfoliating Grains helping to speed up skin's cell-renewal process. Even if you haven't been keen on exfoliators before, these grains are so gentle and effective that you'll be converted - trust me.

Pick up a bottle for yourself here and see the amazing results these little grains have on your skin. Follow Farmacy on Instagram @FarmacyBeauty and check out this video for more information on the brand.

It was a few years ago that the Maison Margiela Replica fragrances caught my eye. I was drawn particularly to Lazy Sunday Morning, a scent based on a memory of soft skin and bed linen in Florence circa 2003. I instantly had flashbacks to my lazy Sunday mornings in the Renaissance capital of Europe; staring up from the protection of cotton sheets at the ancient vaulted ceiling, the city air drifting through the open windows carrying with it the smell of freshly baked cookies from the bakery downstairs. It's so true that a certain memory usually carries with it a scent, or vice versa. Perhaps you're favorite scent is so for a reason - it's laced with nostalgia and evokes a particular feeling that only it can.

With names like Lazy Sunday Morning, Lipstick On, and By The Fireplace, it's evident that Maison Margeila fragrances were each created with a very specific memory in mind - a Replica of varying locations and periods. I've spoken before about how emotional scents can be, which is why I love them - you can collect them just as you do memories and moods.

Lipstick On is reminiscent of my grandmother's powder room - of soft rice powder, vanilla, and vintage Chanel lipsticks that smelled of iris. I'm quite fond of this scent for obvious reasons, it evokes intimate feelings of beauty rituals and smells of a sophisticated woman who knows what she wants. You know the chic woman we all gawk at walking by in her stilettos, carrying with her a certain smell - that's Lipstick On.

By The Fireplace evokes another memory that I'm quite familiar with. A scent based on an addictive chestnut accord, it's laced with clove, vanilla, orange flower, and pink pepper and truly smells like the warmth of a crackling fire on a frosty winter evening. It's the perfectly delicious accompaniment to your coziest cashmere sweater.

They always say, there's no time like the present. In this case, that statement rings truer than ever. The holiday season calls for you kick your daily beauty regimen up a notch, and the best way to do just that is by switching out your daily one-swatch wonder for a palette of rich shimmering hues. Building a palette wardrobe of sorts will have you covered for any occasion that may arise during the most wonderful time of the year. Here are my picks for anyone looking to start amping up their eye makeup game, and best of all, these palettes work on almost all skin types and tones.

The Glimmering Gemstones - Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 05 Silvered Topaz. The perfect palette to accustom yourself to the depths of the smokey eye world. The muted, but still rich, shades are super versatile that most can be worn day and night in many a variation. It's also great that it includes a matte espresso shade for some crease werk, and a shimmering champagne for adding some highlight effect.

The Platinum Smokey Shades - Chanel Les 4 Ombres in 246 Tisse Smoky. The perfect array of silvers and a sexy, satiny black to create a seamless smokey eye as precise as a work of art. These shadows work perfectly when swirled onto a dry brush, but if you're up for some extra intensity, a small wet brush will help define the crease and lower lash line with serious depth. Each shade is so multi-faceted, that they'd even look beautiful worn on their own should you be short on time.

The Rusted Bronzes - Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Dolce Vita. The palette for creating a heavily bronzed lid with a touch of warm rusted elegance. The name of the shades speaks volumes to their effect, they create the doe-eyed allure of an Italian bombshell without having to put forth too much effort. Charlotte's already decoded the how-to of application right on the back of each compact.

The Edgy Satin Neutrals - Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 796 Cuir Cannage. This palette is stocked with rich, smooth, satiny neutrals with a bit of an edge. The deep purple adds depth and an unexpected element to an otherwise neutral eye, but even the bronze shades aren't your run-of-the mill. They're a bit more exciting, and if you're an eyeshadow newb, you'll appreciate their blendability.

I've always had a habit of overpacking when it comes to, well, everything. But I find it especially hard to narrow down my prized beauty products to a capsule-sized collection within the confines of the 3-1-1 rule. However, the past few times I've traveled with all of my beauty, hair, skin, and body essentials tucked neatly into my carry-on. Whether or not you're traveling with only carry-ons this is helpful should your luggage get lost (it's happened to me before...restocking your whole supply is not cheap). It also forces you to take less, and to really think about what your one bold lip color might be. Not to mention, you won't end up with a bag that weighs you down or too many products to choose from when you're getting ready for a day of exploring.

Trust me and print out this list for yourself. Put it inside your clear travel-ready pouch for your next adventure and slowly add appropriately-sized products in as you get them! No last minute rush to pack the toiletries...meaning no forgetting the toothpaste.

Everyone who loves beauty has dreamed of visiting the Guerlain store in Paris, which is stunning, but did you know that you can also experience the iconic brand and all it has to offer in-store at any Guerlain counter? A few weeks back, I was invited by Guerlain to learn more about the history of the brand and their beautiful and innovative product line, and I have to say I've never had such an educational visit to any beauty counter ever before. As someone who often shops online for beauty products, this experience was a refreshing change from my usual way of beauty shopping. I left with a stronger love and appreciation for the brand. In today's oversaturated market, it's comforting to know that this brand has stood the test of time and remained authentic; a true beacon of luxury today.

I was schooled in the art of Guerlain in the Westchester Neiman Marcus by my most gracious host, Jackie. She explained in depth the reason for each product in the line and what ingredients made each product different from others on the market. Thanks to Jackie, I discovered my perfect mascara formula - Maxi Lash So Volume, which separates, lengthens, and curls better than any mascara I've ever tried. I was also introduced to KissKiss Roselip, a hydrating and plumping lip color infused with rose oils for nourished, healthy lips. It hasn't left my side since that day and I can't wait to try more colors from the line.

Not only was the experience customized to my interests, beauty needs, and preferences, but I also learned so many interesting facts about the brand's rich history. For instance, did you know that Guerlain Eau de Cologne Impériale, a citrus aromatic fragrance for women, was created by Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain in 1858 as commissioned by Empress Eugénie (wife of Napoleon III) to ease her migraine suffering? Guerlain expanded his line went on to open his first perfume shop in Paris on Rue de la Paix. Cologne Impériale is still one of the oldest fragrances still in production today - almost 200 years old. The fragrance that began it all, more or less. The house went on to become the official perfumer to Elizabeth of Austria, the famous Sissi, Queen Victoria, and Queen Isabella of Spain. Guerlain is also celebrating another important anniversary this year, as it's iconic Shalimar fragrance has now been around for 90 years.

What I liked most about the experience was learning how much research, history, and care goes into developing and creating each product in the Guerlain line. The products and brand have stood the test of time, and yet, remain true to their heritage - all of which is the best testament to the level of luxury carried with the Guerlain name. If you haven't had an in-store experience with Guerlain yet, I highly recommend you find your closest location and pay a visit.

Less time waiting, more time glowing. As much as I love sprawling out on my bed at the end of a long day with a cup of tea in hand and a thick layer of my mask of choice on my face, there's just not always time for it. For when your complexion needs a kick start, but you just can't find 20 minutes - here are my favorite masks that work in 5 minutes or less.
  1. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask - Yes, this is the one that smells like a pumpkin latte. As soon as it's slathers on your mug (pun intended) you feel it start to get to work. It contains both chemical and physical exfoliators that tingle and gently scrub off all dead skin to reveale a smoother, poreless complexion. In fact, I wouldn't leave it on for more than 5 minutes as it's quite a potent formula - you'll feel what I mean when you try it for yourself.
  2. Sisley Radiant Glow Express Mask - A luxe option for a quick treat yourself moment. It only asks you relax for 3-5 minutes while it banishes signs of a dull, fatigued complexion. Red Clay, Carrot, and Rosehip extracts deeply cleanse, while Rosemary and Chamomile lift away impurities. It is also a red clay-based mask, but isn't the least bit drying - instead it's soothing and brings a lackluster complexion a dose of restorative energy and the glow to show for it. Almost like a cup of tea for your face...
  3. Malin + Goetz Detox Face Mask - This is the foaming mask that makes you look like Santa while you're wearing it. It is a nice takeoff from the typical masks that sometimes feel so heavy and medica - this one is fun and fizzy. It's super gentle and can be used as often as you like, as it's more like a revved up cleanser than harsh treatment. After using this my skin always feels plumped and hydrated, which is a perfect way to start the day or end it.
  4. Nude Miracle Exfoliating Mask - If you're a fan of the Nude cleanser, allow me to introduce you to its mask counterpart. The texture is almost like an oil meets gel, and it contains mirco-exfoliating particles that feel like they are really getting into crevices and obliterating dead skin in their path. The mask tightens when dry and almost gives a little lift to the skin when removed. I'm a fan, and it's clear so you don't look crazy when wearing it either.

An unusual, but extremely satisfying cleanser/mask hybrid. May Lindstrom products are as close as you'll ever come to having someone custom make you products using the creme de la creme of natural ingredients. May sources all of the ingredients for her line herself and makes sure they are unique and truly beneficial to the skin. The Honey Mud is no exception, in fact, it isn't just a skincare product - it's a full on skin experience. If you're in need of a few minutes of "me time" and the spa just isn't an option, you should invest your pennies in a tub of this. But be warned, the first time you try it, you're going to want to eat it instead of slathering it on your face.

Enough rambling, onto this amazing cleanser. The product contains honey, clay, and nutrient-rich plant oils that May describes as feeling like "pudding" - I'm into it. Looking into the pot, you can see exactly what she means too - it's a super dense almost gooey texture, but when it's applied it glides onto the skin like silk and rinses completely clean with water. In all honesty, it feels and smells so amazing on my face that I don't even like having to remove it. The best part is, you don't always have to so quickly. Use it as a cleanser to remove excess dirt and oils, but replace them with skin-loving ingredients instead of stripping skin clean - smooth, poreless, and plump skin is the result. Use it as a mask by leaving it on for a few extra minutes and watch your skin glow when it's removed, the honey purifies and treats blemishes, the clay tightens pores and smooths the skin, and the plant oils provide essential moisture and nourishment for radiance. It's a new must-have to help me de-stress mid-week.

Have you tried any May Lindstrom products?

Nail polish doesn't need to be all boring during adulthood. With something so temporary, it's more than ok to have a little fun with color, and what better time than the holidays to do just that?

I love switching up my polish, especially during the festive time of the year. Matching it to party dresses, cozy sweaters, and decking your tips out in glitter that will make these days all the more merry and bright. My favorite shades are variations of gilded reds, emerald greens, muted grays to match the moody skies, and of course glitter. What are yours?

I have enough lipsticks, said no woman ever. Especially when one of your favorite brands for innovative products comes out with an entirely new formula. It Cosmetics Blurred Lines Lipsticks feel as though your favorite moisturizing lipstick met a plumping primer for your lips. Let me explain why you need these in your life...

The Blurred Lines Collagen Smooth-Fill Lipsticks drench your lips in both intense hydration and color. The inclusion of collagen helps to smooth lips, gives them a fuller, more youthful look. And, to top it all off, hyaluronic filling spheres provide moisture like that of a balm and help blur away those pesky lip lines. What more could you ask for, really?

As someone who has lips that can get dry and cracked easily, especially when wearing intensely pigmented lipsticks, take it from me when I tell you how conditioning these are for the lips. My lips feel better with them on, and even after - as though I had been wearing a good-for-me balm. The color range is truly perfect - there are plenty of perfect nudes as well as a few vampier options for the evening. They also are super easy to use, and can be worn and reapplied all day long as you would a lip balm...these just make your lips look a lot prettier than a balm alone. No settling into fine lines, and no drying pigments here.

Have you tried these lipsticks yet?

Because good skin is the foundation of all successful beauty looks. We know this, don't we? Finding new gems in the (oversaturated) world of beauty is always on the top of my to-do list. Recently, I looked to the very chic Hungary-based skincare brand - Omorovicza - to reform my pores and bring back my natural glow. These few seemingly small, but mighty, potions pack a serious punch thanks to the infusion of thermal waters from the hot springs of Budapest. As you can imagine, the line is a hit with both beauty editors and novices, alike.

Omorovicza is a brand steeped in 2,000 years of history - around the time that Hungary's thermal waters were discovered to have unique healing properties. Fast forward to the 1800's, and the Omorovicza family builds the famed Racz spa in Budapest, on the site of the medieval healing spring. A couple hundred years later, descendant Stephen took his wife-to-be Margaret to the baths in Budapest. The couple was amazed at how the thermal waters changed their skin, and so they created a new skincare range, Omorovicza. Today, the line boasts the same healing qualities as the original thermal springs, and from experience I can tell you that it is just that good.

If you're looking for deep hydration and soothed, clear skin - the thermal springs are the place to be. You know it's hard to stay faithful when it comes to beauty products, but these babies always remain in my rotation. You can rely on Queen of Hungary Mist to tone, de-stress, and deeply hydrate thanks to a technology allowing minerals to penetrate deep into the skin in the form of healing water. The body allows these minerals to penetrate the deepest layers of the epidermis, making them much more effective. The Cleansing Foam is a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser that works amazingly both day and night, as it wont strip the skin of essential moisture, but will remove all traces of makeup and dirt. My skin is left feeling as though the day's grime never graced my face whatsoever.

The line also boasts the treatments worthy of a special occasion. The Thermal Cleansing Balm is perfect for facial massages, or those who prefer a more deeply nourishing and spa-like experience while cleansing. The thick-textured balm is infused with Hungarian Moor Mud for a deep cleanse, and melts into a rich oil that removes even stubborn waterproof makeup and rinses completely clean with water. I like to use this a few times a week for a hydrating and softening treatment. And of course, keeping in tradition with saving the best for last, allow me to introduce you to the Deep Cleansing Mask. This clay-based mask is rich in calcium and magnesium and acts as a pore vacuum while brightening and evening the overall tone of skin. When this mask is removed it's almost as though every individual pore was suctioned clean - which sounds gross, but looks and feels amazing.

Welcome to the deeply replenishing waters of Hungary's hot springs.

If you're a regular around here you'll know that it's not often I change out my haircare products. I tend to use the same few items and reach into my extended stash on the odd occasion that I'm really going for a certain style. Yeah, I hear you whispering about how boring that is, but it's just what works for my super thick, weighed down hair...sort of best without too much product.

Enter these fabulous, and all-natural, hair products from Leonor Greyl. The simplistic white packaging and intoxicating scents looked, and smelled, quite promising - not to mention that these products are beloved by an elite group of hair professionals for their top notch quality. Read: they work to make your hair better. Which, if I'm being honest, not many products that I've tried have managed to do.

For deep but light conditioning, the Masque A L'Orchidee is an absolute gem. It smells incredible, but the rich non-greasy texture is why it really stands apart from the crowd. It's a hair mask, which I tend to totally stay away from - but in this case I can't help but to use it multiple times a week. When I do, the silk proteins and vegetable ceramids seem to completely tame my mane, making it instantly silky, frizz-free, and manageable without weighing it down. I'm obsessed.

In the styling department, Leonor keeps thing simple and natural, just like I prefer them. Her products really enhance the natural beauty of the hair without requiring too much on the styling front. The Serum de Soie Sublimateur is a lightweight milky serum that smoothes frizz and adds a bit of a gloss to the hair, without being too oily which is perfect for use in wet hair. If you're looking for extra shine and intense nourishment, for hair, but also body, the Huile Secret de Beaute is amazing. I love the way it smells, of course, but it is also quite the little multi-tasker. This is one of those products I'll need to keep a spare of because I can't imagine I'll go a day without it this winter...

Have you tried products from Leonor Greyl before?

I've been loving the Too Faced Melted Lips liquid lipsticks lately as a nice switch from the matte lipsticks I've been wearing for months on end. I have to say I steered clear of these for awhile whenever passing by them in store, because I figured they'd be far too heavy and unnatural looking for my taste - but I was so wrong. I picked up a set of four at the *danger zone* near the Sephora register last time I was there, thinking it would be the perfect way to give them a go.

I am so pleasantly surprised by the creamy textures of these lipsticks and how fluid they are. I had a vision that they would come out really thick - almost sticky and gloppy, but instead, they are super buildable and lightweight. I love how easily they allow you to layer the color on without every drying out your lips. For day time, I have been swiping them on over balm for a hint of color that looks almost natural, but better. At night they're amazing when worn more full-on and give a great bold color that doesn't pull or tug on dry patches. I think I've found my new favorite liquid lipstick formula...

November 09, 2015

I have used Eve Lom's cult cleanser long before I was so into skincare. I loved the way it made my skin feel so plumped and nourished post-wash, much unlike the stripping cleansers I used at the time geared toward oily skin. It turns out, the Eve Lom Cleanser, one which is packed with nourishing oils to feed the skin, helped clear up my skin much more than any drying ones had before. I was in love...

Years later, I'm still loving the cleanser. You get a glow as though you've just had a facial every time you use it - which is a major bonus to a product that you use daily. If you haven't used it before, it's a thick balm with über gentle exfoliating grains inside. When massaged on the face, the balm turns into an oil that sweeps away every last trace of makeup and softens the skin. The method of removing it with an Eve Lom Muslin Cloth also helps ramp up exfoliation while cleansing, but in the gentlest possible way.

Immediately after cleansing, I apply the Eye Lift cream around my eyes gently. Unfortunately, since so many eye creams can be sticky, I often opt out in the morning because I can't deal with the tacky makeup mess that follows. But with this one, my skin drinks it up upon application and my eyes are left feeling de-puffed, soothed, and brighter. I also feel like I am truly doing something good to prevent those pesky crows feet from rearing their ugly heads one day. Let's hope...

The Daily Protection SPF 50 is another amazing product in the line. It's lightweight moisturizer that hydrates and protects with a hefty dose of SPF. But even before I apply the moisturizer, when my skin is feeling slack and lackluster I reach for the Intense Firming Serum. It feels like a shot of youth for tired skin, and is equal parts radiance and hydration. For me, it's so important that my products sink in quickly and leave no greasy film on my skin and neither of these products do. My skin feels soft, plumped, and looks glowing within seconds of application. I love how fast I am able to move onto makeup.

Speaking of makeup, Eve Lom's lineup also boasts amazing skin perfecting coverage. I love using the Flawless Radiance Perfect Matte Primer for a dose of soothing, redness-reducing, and subtle illumination on my skin. The Sheer Radiance Oil Free Foundation is amazing as well - the coverage is light but evens everything out and is virtually undetectable on the skin. I also feel as though these skincare/makeup hybrids are benefitting my skin while I wear them instead of wreaking havoc like some foundations can do. These don't clog my pores and show no signs of oil-slick partway through the day. My skin and I are both happy using these amazing products. I'm in love...

A bit of weekend-inspired shopping. Here is my November Lust-Have List; because every savvy shopper wants to know what fellow junkies have their eye on.

This Dolce & Gabbana matte red lipstick looks like the ultimate classic. I'm going back to Florence during the holidays and can imagine bringing this with me for nights out...especially New Year's Eve. But of course, a red lip is nothing without a fresh, flawless complexion. I've heard great things about the Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation and think it's time to switch things up in the foundation department.

When it comes to the colder months booties are my go-to, and Rag & Bone happens to be one of my favorite boot designers ever. I've had the Harrow Boots forever, but think it's time for a pair of accent free Newbury black, of course.

I'm a lip balm hoarder, and have been getting into Tatcha products more and more lately. This gold-leaf embellished version has just the right amount of something extra and looks beautiful too. You guys know how often I like to change up my scent too. Carven Le Parfum just made its way into my life and I'm absolutely loving the soft floral scent and the warm, cozy dry-down it lends on skin. I can also appreciate that the price isn't absolutely absurd for a really niche fragrance either - score!

Speaking of all things Florence - I'm obsessed with Santa Maria Novella skincare products from the ancient Tuscan pharmacy. The packaging is stunning and the products inside are made of all natural centuries-old recipes. Next on my list to try is their cult body lotion - Latte Per il Corpo

Amanda Lacey products have also been on my radar, and seem like the perfect treat for dry skin during the cold months. Oils of Provence smell amazing and essentially double as a perfume - I can't wait to pick up a bottle for my vanity. Of course, a beautiful vanity isn't complete without a beautiful candle. I'm addicted, and am lusting after one of these beautiful ceramic (perfect for reuse after burning) candles from the famed Milanese brand.

And of course, the season change calls for a new handbag. I've been wanting a Gucci Soho Disco Bag forever now, and I think it's finally time to take the plunge.

What's on your lust-have list this month?

November 06, 2015

To me, fall is the perfect time of the year to switch up your fragrance, and that's exactly what I did. This time, however, I've fallen for a fragrance that's as enchanting to me as it is intoxicating, Hanae Mori Butterfly Eau De Parfum. The scent is sophisticated, but still manages to be fun and feminine, and was created that way to perfectly embody its namesake. To me, this is a delicious fragrance and very personal because of its soft, yet lingering, notes which include sweet Strawberries, fresh Bilberries, Bulgarian Rose, Black Currant, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood, Almond, and Praline.

This scent is a rare blend of berries and flowers with a distinctive hint of almond and fruit, and although there is not a single drop of vanilla in the formula, it is very reminiscent of its warmth on the skin. It's festive, modern, and very intimate as it draws in those around you. It lingers all day on the skin and finishes the same way it started, but softens. I love that the all-glass cap represents the beauty of a butterfly with folded wings, adding a touch of whimsy and romance to the bottle design.

I've been wearing this scent throughout the past month exclusively, as it's equally beautiful for both day and night - soft, yet bold and noticeable. You can get your hands on a bottle of your own at

Better yet, for a chance to win a Hanae Mori Butterfly fragrance of your own, tag three friends on @HanaeMoriParfums Instagram feed and follow them. The contest will end November 15th at 10:00PM EST. #HanaeMoriParfums will choose three winners shortly after. Good luck!

The easier, the better, in my book. Thanks to some seriously good skincare and glow-getting makeup products, the classic red lip and cat eye look are easier than ever. With this look I prefer perfected skin, so make sure to prep using my favorite masks and base. It's a timeless look that screams Parisian-chic, complements the season exceptionally well, and is the perfect accessory to an otherwise all black ensemble. (Which, are obviously my personal favorites.) I used only two products aside from my daily favorites to create this look, which is why it's worth sharing with you - because it doesn't have to be so d*** complicated, always.

A swipe of Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution Lipstick in Lost Cherry makes for perfectly smooth, yet intense, matte color. To create my winged liner look, I slicked the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper across my lash line and extended it upward and out. This is the eyeliner for creating a precise tip easily, and it won't budge all day. It's all in the name, really.

What's your favorite classic look for fall?

November 02, 2015

As someone with oily skin, I find it hard to incorporate a sunscreen into my daily routine, but I do because it's so important to healthy skin. Before the slew of innovative, silky-textured sunscreens were released, I had to sacrifice a slight oily look for the use of SPF. I have fallen quickly for the new Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen for that reason exactly.

This sunscreen from Tatcha is opaque white, and upon first glance looks a bit like a traditional lotion. Blend it in and you'll realize how silky smooth your skin becomes while wearing. It fills in pores and leaves skin feeling super soft and illuminated. I've even swapped out my usual makeup primers for this product lately, as it mattifies my skin without making it look flat. No more oily sunscreen that breaks up makeup...this one even helps my makeup last longer. It's safe to say this is a new staple in my daily routine. Get your hands on this now, thank me later.

Sundays are good for a few things; sitting around in pajamas all day, recovering from the previous night, and pampering skin for the week ahead. Prep for all of that masking you'll be doing with a toner worth its weight in gold. These toners will exfoliate dead skin, gently peel, and help bring back that glow we're all coveting. These two are my favorites and tackle lackluster skin quite well, if you ask me.

Pixi Glow Tonic - The gentler option that smells quite refreshing. This is perfect for sensitive skin because it doesn't burn or aggravate the skin, but does help with daily exfoliation really well. I find this one can be used twice daily without any issues, and keeps my skin glowing and pores looking smaller. It doesn't help with breakouts as much as the next option, but it still does help keep things clearer than without.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 - The merciless cult French toner that means business. This stuff is not for the faint of heart, as it brings burn and some redness, and smells unpleasant. However, if you're okay with those things then you'll experience smooth, breakout-free skin that glows. It's recommended that you build up to using this twice a day, as you need to get your skin accustomed to the intensity first. I also notice the difference it makes with the rest of my routine, as the products I use following this toner are absorbed quickly and completely.
