How To Make The Most Of Masking

Just when you thought the mask category couldn't expand anymore (you've got sheet masks, peel masks, powder masks, wet masks, etc.) you're hit with this: a mask PRIMER. Your initial thoughts are most likely similar to what mine were..."Does it do anything/is there a point?" Well, actually it does a few pretty great things and yes there is!

The Origins Maskimizer Skin Optimizing Primer preps, primes, and optimizes the skin prior to masking. Specifically, it improves overall condition of the skin by softening, soothing, hydrating, and boosting radiance immediately with its mixture of algae, green tea, and cucumber extract. It also increases your ability to rinse and spread the mask, as some can dry and be difficult to remove, while others can be viscous and less apt to glide around the face.

I love using this right before my mask because it doesn't take any serious commitment but produces great results! Think of this the same way you would a toner before a moisturizer; it boosts the benefits. Sometimes my dry skin feels uncomfortable when I apply a mask straight on a clean, product-free face. This rids of the problem entirely, while making my skin feel extra great post-mask...give it a go and see for yourself!

Super Luxury Beauty Buys Worth Their High Price Tags

The age old question of where to save and where to splurge is also applicable to beauty products. Certain luxury buys can be more gimmicky than others; those are the products that for which you're most likely shelling out extra cash because of their O.T.T. packaging. While I do love good packaging (and some do have both amazing good packaging and amazing contents), what makes a luxe buy worthy of a repurchase is the results it gives you. Here are my top product picks that won't leave you with buyers remorse...

Sisley Paris Phyto-Eye Twist Pencil & Eyeliner - (Shown here in Topaz) These creamy and über blendable shadow crayons deposit seriously rich color pigment in one swipe. I love that they are a bit more workable than your average shadow sticks, giving you more time to move them before they set completely and give great wear time. Try mixing two colors; the lighter across the lid and the darker into the crease and outer corner. You've been warned, these are addictive.

By Terry Cover Expert Perfecting Fluid Foundation - I gush and gush about By Terry's products but that's because I've yet to try one and be disappointed. I especially love this foundation for its ability to cover and remain light and satiny at the same time. It feels great on skin in the winter as it's moisturizing but doesn't overdo it with the oiliness either.

Tom Ford Lip Color - You've heard this before and I'll say it again. These are the lipsticks to buy if you're on the market for a luxe "treat-yourself" beauty buy. They are creamy, pigmented, come in beautiful shades and smell like expensive vanilla. What's not to love?

Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil - This jasmine and neroli scented oil acts as a beautifying skin treatment and aromatherapy session in one. I love that the formula is simple yet luxe and potent, containing a blend of botanical oils derived from nature to create a well-rounded formula that combats a bevy of skin woes. Since using this elixir I can seriously say that my skin is more clear, balanced, and glowy and it plumps fine lines and boosts radiance like no other. I especially love this during the winter for a soothing treat.

Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask - This is an amazing all-rounder mask that targets signs of aging while keeping pores clear and clean. I love the lift and glow it seems to provide skin with post-use, so it's great to use before a party or special event.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer - The best luxury moisturizer out there. If you're going to go big on a ticket skincare item, nothing makes my skin more comforted and hydrated than this cream. Its sheer texture allows it to melt into the skin on contact and leave it feeling softer and smoother than ever before in an instant. This is seriously amazing stuff.

La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush - A seamless makeup/skincare hybrid that blends into the skin as if it was meant to be there all along. I love how the texture melts and leaves behind a satin, yet nourishing veil of color that is absolutely beautiful and awakening. By far the best cream blushes yet!

Master Palette By Mario: The Perfect Fall Palette?

I took a bit of a break from the palette world over the past few months...and I guess you could say a heavy eye makeup hiatus altogether. I had been doing a swipe of liner or eyeshadow crayon before running out the door and that's it. But, when the cold weather came back at us full force, I flipped a switch yet again. Suddenly I'm all about eyeshadow again, and there's one palette in particular that has been floating my boat...

It's unsurprisingly the Anastasia Beverly Hills The Master Palette By Mario. With its mix of warm bronze, garnet and gilded jewel tones, this palette covers pretty much any fall-inspired look I could ever dream of creating. The formulas are buttery smooth, both with the matte and shimmers alike, and all the shades pair well together, no matter which you choose. I love that there's a blue and green in there as well, but neither are so bold that they're unwearable. I find that aside from one more medium-to-dark matte brown shade, this palette contains the perfect array of modern neutrals suitable for the colder months and even beyond.

A 5 Minute Updo Perfect For Holiday Parties

With the first of the holidays fast approaching (Thursday, oomggg) it's time to plan our corresponding looks. I'm not usually one to try something new where my hair is concerned (hell, it's taken me years to even attempt to grow it from my usual shoulder-grazing length), but I've been loving easy, low-placed ponytails lately. Consider this the chicer version of exactly that. Here's how to do it...

Step 1: Arrange your hair into a low ponytail, as you usually would, and secure with a thin elastic.

Step 2: Place your fingers above the elastic and separate the hair into two sections without loosening the hair too much. Then take the ponytail, lift it up and pull the hair through the gap between the two sections of hair you just created.

Step 3: Depending on the length of your hair, you can repeat this again and again. My hair length looks best when this is done twice. How did you it? Just move down the ponytail a few inches and secure another elastic, then repeat step 2 completely for a loose, easy updo perfect for holiday parties.

Best of all...this hairstyle looks amazing loosened, so as it falls, just leave it be!

Perricone MD Cold Plasma

Anti-aging with a personal twist...

One of the most obvious bits of beauty advice I've gotten from my mother was that it's much easier to take the proper preventative measures than it is to attempt to correct the problem later. Like I said, it's obvious, yet there are so many of us that don't take appropriate care of our skin while we can. Yes, moisturizing is important; but what are you doing to prevent aging?

Perricone MD Cold Plasma Anti-Aging Face Treatment is not a moisturizer. It's a treatment designed to fight the 10 most visible signs of aging. What are they, you ask? They include loss of radiance, impurities, loss of firmness, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, discoloration, dryness, fine lines, loss of smoothness, and redness. While you may not experience all of these issues with your skin, the beauty of Cold Plasma is that it's personal thanks to the Proprietary Liquid Crystal Delivery System, so you get your best results. Cold Plasma Anti-Aging Eye Treatment works in a similar way, combatting dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness in the eye area.

The results are seriously good, but I fell in love with this product because it's texture and level of comfort is perfect. It looks like a sheer cream and feels like a lightweight, moisturizing serum. And of course...after using this product religiously for a few weeks, I enjoy waking up to smoother, brighter, plumper, well-rested skin each morning. I feel as though I'm really working to prevent the signs of aging from occurring with this duo.

5 Products That Remain In My Makeup Bag No Matter The Season

I'm always talking about seasonal makeup changes around here; but what about those products that remain tried and true season after season? Believe it or not, I have a few products that I remain loyal to throughout the year...years, even. Some products don't need changing, because they just work! Want to know what they are? Keep reading...

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper - The one, the only. Every time I attempt to switch to another liner, I find myself fumbling around with it, only to end up with a wobbly, less-than-chic line. I really can't fault this one, the tip is comprised of fine hairs that bend but don't you can create the most precise cat-eye ever.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - I may have quite a concealer collection at the ready, but when it comes down to it this is the only one I continuously repurchase. If I'm traveling, you bet this will be the one that makes the journey with me. I just love that it can do the job of spot concealing and under-eye brightening.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon - Surprise! To me, this is the best shade of gilded brown shadow out there. It catches the light beautifully and makes it look as though you've put in all the effort with your eye makeup when really you scribbled this on and smudged it in. What's more? The lasting power is actually unbeatable.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - In any shade, really. But I typically gravitate toward Dim Light or Luminous Light. Again, through all the powders in my drawer this one comes out on top for its' ability to provide setting power and a glow that stops you from looking flat.

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk - Yes, it's made a comeback. I actually use this all the time still, because there's no liner that matches my lip color better, making it easy to either perfect my natural lip, or even cheat the shape a bit as the name suggests. I also love the longevity of this waxy, non-drying formula; topped with a bit of balm this is unbeatable!

What's In My Bag: Gucci Marmont Camera Bag Review

Taking a stab at a "what's in my bag" video, while reviewing the new Gucci Marmont Camera Bag! I hope you like the video and don't forget to subscribe for more.

Darphin Lumiere Essentielle

With the temperatures dropping, I like to incorporate more moisture into my skincare routine whenever possible. But, being someone with combination skin, I also like to make sure that products remain lightweight and are fully absorbed into my skin. I have been a fan of the Darphin Essential Oil Elixirs for quite some time now, so when I heard that they were launching a new range of products called Lumière Essentielle, I knew I had to give it a go.

There are two new products in this line. They include an Illuminating Oil-Gel Cream and an Illuminating Oil-Gel Serum. As I mentioned earlier, I like to add moisture into my skincare routine without using too many heavy, greasy layers. These products are both oil-gels, meaning they offer me the best of both worlds. They are lightweight in texture and super hydrating at the same time, while boosting radiance and creating a natural glow.

The Illuminating Oil-Gel Serum contains 7,000 micro-capsulated essential oils in it's featherlight formula, which are released as the serum is blended into the skin. It feels fresh, soothing, plumping and yet manages to offer the skin supreme hydration all at once. I love using this serum for a smooth and radiant skin, especially in the colder months.

The Illuminating Oil-Gel Cream helps to replenish moisture in the skin by transforming into a lightweight oil on contact. The cream's ultra-smooth formula also nourishes, plumps, and gives skin a boost of nourishment and glow.

What Is Your Beauty Signature?

In a world of beauty whose trends change daily, how do you stay true to you? I have personally dipped my toe into many trends - some far more ridiculous than others - only to come back to some variation of what I already knew worked for me.

Everyone has features that they like more than others, so maybe the focus is on highlighting the good, or maybe it's more a statement signature than anything else. I've always loved a very defined eye, as I sometimes feel clownish in such heavy lip colors during the day time. Don't get me wrong, I love a bold lip for evening, but I like it done my way. For me, something that has always made me feel the best version of myself is winged liner. I love how it gives me a bit of an edge, but in a very feminine way. It's kind of like an unrecognized accessory, one that unfortunately can sometimes take shaky morning hands longer to do than it should.'s something that I like to wear, that makes me feel good, and that accentuates my big eyes.

So tell me, what do you do as your beauty "signature"...even if it changes often?

The Ultimate Holiday Beauty Gift Guide

It's that time of the year again. Personally, I'm in awe of the fact that it's already November, and the holiday-themed commercials are already creeping their way into regular programming. But, that being said, it's always a good idea to get a head start on holiday shopping. I've been through loads of Christmas-edition products and am rounding up the very best that I think are worth gifting someone, There's also a little something for just about everyone on your list.

The Pamper Lover - Go for the L'Occitane Advent Calendar. I love how this is so noncommittal. It contains a few of their best bits from each fragrance line, and products for everything from bath, to body, and skincare. It comes with 24 1 ounce-sized products, which means whoever you gift this to will be well stocked for their next getaway.

The Luxe Skincare Fanatic - Try the Omorovicza Limited Edition Introductory Kit and the Darphin Ideal Resource Holiday Set. These are two of my favorite skincare brands of all time and these sets are a wonderful way for a skincare lover to sample some of their offerings. The Omorovicza kit contains their cult famous Queen of Hungary Mist (a personal favorite), Thermal Cleansing Balm, Cleansing Foam, Balancing Moisturizer, and Ultramoor Mud Mask. This set would be perfect for the friend who's constantly traveling but doesn't like to let that affect her skincare routine. The Darphin Set will give them the basics for a beautiful, bright, smooth skin. It contains the Ideal Resource Smoothing Retexturizing Radiance Cream, Ideal Resource Anti-Dark Circle Eye Illuminator, and Jasmine Aromatic Care which is a serious must-have, especially during the colder months.

The Chic Minimalist - Try the Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil and Olio Lusso Lip Balm. Sometimes, simple is better. But simple gone luxe is even better. I'm sure you've heard all about the cult facial oil that launched one thousand dupes - it's Rodin Olio Lusso. It's a mix of 10 nourishing oils that combat pretty much every skin ailment imaginable, while keeping the skin soft, plumped, dewy, and hydrated. The Lip Balm contains the brand's signature Neroli and Jasmine scent with beeswax, shea butter, and castor oil and gives lips a healthy sheen. All that comes wrapped up in adorable polka dot boxes for holiday. What more could someone want in a gift?

The Francophile - Get them the Nars Audacious Lipstick Holiday Kiss Collection in Rita. This is the special edition red tube that was brought out for the holidays exclusively at Sephora. This lipstick formula is one of the best out there; it's creamy, satiny and long-wearing while still being comfortable. What's more chic than the perfect red lipstick, especially when worn while sipping a delicious holiday cocktail?

The Fragrance Addict - Byredo anything/everything? I love Mojave Ghost, Bal D'Afrique, and Gypsy Water. But, if you'd like to spend a bit less and give a selection of fragrances, the brand's La Sélection de Fête is a great option and contains 6x12ml sprays including Blanche, Mojave Ghost, Bal D'Afrique, Gypsy Water, La Tulipe, and Super Cedar. Now that's sure to have them smelling dreamy well into the new year.

The Zen Friend - Have a friend that could use a little relaxation? Then the Aveda Feeling Balanced Is A Gift Collection of pure essential oil sprays are the perfect choice. The set contains one spray for each root chakra and encourages that they be used while meditating, so that you can be sure they'll leave the holiday season feeling grounded again.

The Makeup Fanatic - Try the Laura Mercier Master Class Color Palette. I've mentioned this before because it's simply the best palette I've come across in a long time, not to mention, perfect for those on-the-go. I will certainly be bringing mine for any traveling I do this holiday season. It contains 12 eyeshadows including 6 mattes, 1 sateens, and 5 lusters - all in beautifully wearable neutral shades. As if that wasn't enough, they've also added two Tightline Cake Eyeliners, one Longwear Crème Eye Pencil, a Second Skin Cheek Colour, Face Highlighter, and Bronzing Pressed Powder. This palette is any makeup lovers dream, or even the perfect way to start a beauty collection for the beginner.

The Candle Hoarder - Got a friend that loves candles? Haven't we all. Diptyque Holiday 2016 is absolutely to die for. I love Épices personally, as it smells like gingerbread, but all of their candles make for a luxurious addition to any collection. Give them a little something special to fragrance their holidays.

The Spa-Goer - The Dr. Dennis Gross Facial Steamer is absolutely a must-have for any of your spa loving friends. It's super easy to use and will make them feel good both inside and out. I love how it opens up the pores to help the following serums and moisturizers penetrate the skin more deeply. Surely, anyone would find this a treat.

What will you be giving this holiday season?

The Capsule Travel Makeup Bag

This is one of those subjects I've talked about time and time again. But, that's because,  after I arrive at my destination, I always feel as though I could have done with even fewer products. I'm sure you've heard everyone tell you time and time again that packing is like an art, so really there is always room for improvement.

But, I've learned a thing or two during my most recent trips that I'd like to share, and since I'm a planner (see my post earlier this week for proof), I like to take my own advice for upcoming travels as well. It's important to try to be ruthless when I'm constantly reminding myself of that.

The "capsule" has been done in every area of fashion and beauty over and over again. What is it you ask? It's just a fancy term for an edited and pared down wardrobe, or in this case, beauty wardrobe that's both streamlined and comprehensive. Here are the few changes you need to make to really master the capsule travel makeup bag.

It all starts with a great palette, that contains almost every color product you'll need. That means, all the blushes, bronzers, highlighters, eyeshadows...and sometimes lipsticks and eyeliners as well (if you're lucky). I've recently found the perfect palette for just that; it's the Laura Mercier Master Class Colour Essentials Collection. This palette is the beauty lover's dream. It contains 6 matte shadows, 6 luster shadows, a universally flattering blush, bronzer, and highlighter...and two cake liners, a black pencil liner, and two shadow brushes. What did I tell you? It has everything

Now you'll need to fill in the remainder of the products you'll use on a daily basis. Of course, if you don't use shadows, liners, or face don't need the palette at all and can skip right over to this part of packing. I allow myself one base that's light enough for day, but provides enough coverage come evening, a concealer that can do it all, brow pencil, mascara, setting powder, and three lip options (one tinted balm, one nude, one bold).

See? That was easy. You'll have everything you need and nothing you don't, but you'll still be able to change up your look dramatically because of the plentiful eye and lip color options.'re ready to go.

French Pharmacy Brands You Need To Know

The final word on French beauty is this: enhance your best features and only use products to look like the best version of you. So, where does one such French woman find these products, you ask? At the pharmacie, of course. In Paris, the pharmacies are budget-friendly skincare meccas, and thanks to certain websites and stores we can also get our hands on them here across the pond. Here are the brands that you need to know, and the products from each that are must haves...

1. La Roche Posay.
Probably the most well-known French pharmacy line, this dermatological laboratory means business. There are different products for every skin problem - all infused with soothing antioxidant spring water - so no product is ever too harsh. Products to try: Effaclar BB Blur, Toleraine Facial Fluide, Physiological Cleansing Gel.

2. Talika.
A bit lesser known here in the states, but that doesn't mean it isn't just as amazing as the rest. This brand has real history, it dates back to 1948 and has since focused on creating products for specific concerns of women. I love when a brand combines problem solving with beauty, and these products do just that. Products to try: Lipocils Expert Eyelash Conditioning Gel, Bio Enzymes Mask After-Sun, Photo Hydra Serum

3. Avène.
Soothing spring water works wonders on sensitive skins, making these products a good pick for everyone. I love the how these ultra-hydrating products contain minerals and vitamins of natural origin that give the skin a health boost. Products you need to try: Cleanance Cleansing Gel, Ultra-Light Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion, Cleanance Expert.

4. Nuxe.
The brand that put dry oils on the map. Nuxe has amazing products for oily and sensitive skins, but that also work on all skin types. Products you need to try: Huile Prodigieux Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, Prodigieux Le Parfum, Crème Fraîche de Beauté Masque.

5. Caudalíe.
Antioxidants from grapes are pretty amazing for your skin. But, cult brand Caudalíe doesn't stop there - they use all sorts of amazing plant-based oils and milks to soften, smooth, and enhance the skin. I find the brand's products to be overall very nourishing, lightweight, and refreshing. Products you need to try: Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, Instant Detox Mask, Beauty Elixir.

6. Klorane.
All things hair. This line uses mostly ingredients of natural origin and has a formula for just about every hair concern out there. Best of all, the products are nourishing, fuss-free, and always give my hair a soft, healthy, bounce. Products you need to try: Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, Shampoo with Magnolia.

How To Plan Your Perfect Trip

Let's get away. I've always been passionate about traveling. I love the escape, the education, the adventure and immersion. I also always feel more content returning home to my daily life after a bit of a getaway; it freshens my perspective and usually infuses my work with a newfound sense of inspiration and motivation.

That being said, I have always been an advocate of planning a trip. I'm not one to book a flight and jet off the next day with no itinerary or idea of what I'll be doing once I reach my destination. Having a list of what you want to do and see, and where else you want to go while you're there makes the actual trip so much more fulfilling. You're already spending the money to get all the way to your dream destination, but planning is what makes it your dream trip.

So, you know where you want to go...and now you're sat wondering how you could possibly know this far in advance where you should stay, let alone what you should fill your days with. Well, I've been there many times before and have set a few unwritten rules for myself to follow when trying to plan a getaway. Here are my top tips to make the most of yours...

1. Ask Yourself Questions.
Particularly about why you are traveling. Are you traveling for a specific event? Are you looking to relax? Or do you want an itinerary packed with adventures and exploring? This will help you to decide the best place to go and just how many sites to plan on seeing while there. For example, just because you're looking for a relaxing holiday doesn't mean you have to go to a beach. You can book a trip to a city but just not plan to do as much while you're there. Long lunches and walks through the park can get the job done just as well, but knowing ahead of time helps you to narrow your search.

2. Do Some Planning Before You Budget.
This may seem obvious, but hear me out. You should have a rough estimate of what you want to spend already, but planning what to see, what restaurants you want to try, and how many cities to visit on your trip will help you to choose the right hotel and flight package for your budget. I find this helps me make the most of my trip because I can roughly estimate how much I'll be spending while I'm there and then put the rest into finding the best accommodations I can for my money.

3. Use Social Media To Get Ideas.
Because Instagram is often real-time, it's a great tool for discovering the latest and greatest of what you're destination has to offer. It's also great because there are so many destination experts that you can look toward for trip inspiration. If their aesthetic and interests seem closely aligned with yours, maybe you should try some of the restaurants they've tagged on their feed. Additionally, I find it helpful to fill a Pinterest board with beautiful photos of monuments, restaurants, parks, and even street style snaps from my destination. You'll likely find some hidden gems and specific things to try that you'd otherwise be unaware of. Pinterest is certainly a great way to collect and save ideas of you'd like to go, what you'd like to do, and what to wear while doing it all.

4. Good Old Fashioned Books.
I am not one to ignore that the most comprehensive and non-subjective travel tips are often found in the pages of a travel guidebook. Looking at social media is a great way to get detailed recommendations tailored to your personal taste, but a city-specific guide usually presents just about everything there is to do there, and often then breaks it down further based on how much time you have, your priorities, and budget. I personally use the AAA City Guides, Frommers, and DK Eyewitness Travel Top 10 guides.

5. Leave Some Time Unplanned.
You often find out much more information about the city upon arrival. Just think - unless you've been to your destination before - prior to arriving you didn't even know where your hotel was situated. I always leave some days unscheduled so that I can ask for recommendations when I reach my destination, whether it be from concierge, restaurant staff, or even other tourists I meet. It's usually a great way to weed through the tourist traps as well, because you get up-to-date opinions of both travelers and locals.

What are your guidelines to planning a perfect trip?

November 07, 2016

Scared silly of chalky powder highlighters? I know the feeling. I love a good cheekbone beam just as much as the next guy, but sometimes that powdery look actually has the opposite effect of healthy and glowy. So, I'm constantly on the hunt for more natural, less glittery products that will give me a bit of illumination and perk up my complexion. The new Algenist Reveal Concentrated Luminizing Drops tick all the boxes...

These lightweight liquid drops contain a beautiful color correcting and luminizing pearl complex that glides onto the skin smoothly and evenly. I love how these can be patted into the skin for a barely-there glow, or layered up for a more full on saw-me coming highlight. I also have been enjoying mixing in these drops with my primer or foundation for a bit of a sheered-out and glowy effect, that never changes the finish of my satin bases. If you're a real no-makeup girl, I'd even recommend mixing the luminizing drops into your moisturizer and spot-concealing for a true to life model-off duty vibe.

The formula is available in 3 shades, so it's easy to find one that suits you. I have a fair complexion (about a 10 or 20 in Chanel foundations) and none of these are too dark for me, especially since they can be worn sheer. Rosé is a beautiful soft petal pink, Champagne is an über-flattering rose gold, and Pearl reminds me of the inside of seashells...they're all gorgeous!

Have you tried these yet?

*pr samples included.

When it comes to sharing travel photos, better late than never is always my mantra. I always enjoy peeking at others' travel diaries and photos as well, because it's a great way to get a feel for a place. I love the authentic side of life that travel often shows us; the photos say blue skies and lush greenery but there is always much more to it than just that. This summer I traveled to Mallorca for the first time, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I loved how it offered beautiful beaches that weren't extremely overcrowded, and were actually amazing for swimming and people watching. There were plenty of amazing restaurants in the main city, Palma, which had a well kept old city center with a beautiful cathedral and palace perched atop the hill. The trip was so well balanced in terms of offerings; there were the Tramuntana Mountains that we explored, we took an old trolley ride in Soller, explored the coves in La Calobra, the crystal waters of Es Trenc beach, Palma city, and the boardwalk filled with nightlife along Playa de Palma. I loved Mallorca, and hope to go back one day for more! Have you every visited before?
