Make This: An Easy, Festive Champagne Cocktail

Make This: An Easy, Festive Champagne Cocktail

There's just something about the holidays that has me wanting to cozy up on the couch in my favorite PJs, throw on a Christmas movie and grab a festive cocktail. While I'm no bartender, I do have a few easy recipes up my sleeve to bust out when the mood strikes. Best of all, the one I'm sharing today most likely won't require a separate trip to the liquor store, and it's relatively low in alcohol, so you can enjoy more than one 😉.

Ingredients
Champagne (your choice of brand)
1/2 TBSP Rose's Grenadine Syrup
Orange Juice
Cranberries (garnish to taste)
2 Orange Slices

Instructions
Fill a Champagne flute a little over halfway with chilled champagne, then add the grenadine and fill the remainder of the glass with orange juice. Garnish the rim of the glass with an orange slice, and sprinkle in cranberries to your taste. Sip away!

Happy Holidays to all!

Packing For Ireland In The Winter

Packing For Ireland In The Winter

My boyfriend and I leave for Ireland on Monday (so excited - recommendations welcome!) and I've been spending the day trying to complete the majority of my packing. There are pros and cons to packing before Christmas; one pro being that I can enjoy the holiday without the stress of it looming over my head, and one con being that I will still need to squeeze in the items that I'm getting as gifts after I've already zipped up my suitcase. But, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make because I've been told that packing for Ireland needs a bit more strategic thinking than an average trip to Europe. The thought of experiencing "multiple season's weather in just an afternoon" may sound exciting, but it means you better be smart when it comes to packing. Temperature wise, I know it can't be as cold as Connecticut, but it might fluctuate more...so layers are key here. I'm crossing my fingers that I have a bit of luck when it comes to that, and I even packed a few lighter jackets just in case.

I decided this time to share what I'm packing clothing-wise because I surprisingly have heard of a few people who are also planning trips to Ireland in upcoming months. So, whether you'll be visiting Ireland too, or somewhere else this holiday season I hope this list helps you with your packing! (It also helps that many similar items are on sale right now - gotta love holiday shopping!)
Safe travels and happy holidays!

Tom Ford Lips & Boys - These are stunning, I love the newly launched shades for 2016 and that they are the perfect sizes for travel.

Burberry Scarf - It's like a more luxe version of a candle in the world of gifting; who doesn't love a scarf? You can't go wrong.

Miu Miu Clutch - I love clutches of all kinds, but this quilted pink one gives me all kinds of heart-eye emoji feelings.

Products To Cure Hungover Skin (Just In Time For The Holidays)

Products To Cure Hungover Skin (Just In Time For The Holidays)

Yes, that's a real problem. Not only do hangovers leave you feeling like *shit* (pardon my French), but they leave your skin looking the part as well. 'Tis the season for dressing up, over-drinking, and many other indulgences, and while it's fun, it's also a bit harsh on skin. So, if you wake up looking less than glowing post-party, try the following. I promise, in minutes you'll go from morning after the night before, to post-spa day radiance.

La Mer The Renewal Oil - This bi-phase oil is like a tall glass of water for the skin. It's nourishing and instantly refreshes, yet it manages to be on the dryer side of the oil spectrum, absorbing instantly and leaving behind nothing but an envious glow.

Fresh Black Tea Perfecting Mask - This whipped, tea infused mask is the skincare equivalent of ice packs on an injury. It depuffs, cools, and calms while toning the skin and packing a moisturizing punch. I've been loving this mask lately and it's my go-to for its easy application, removal, and its quick results.

Tata Harper Illuminating Eye Cream - For when all the coffee and caffeine in the world can't rid you of those tired eyes. This cream feels light and doesn't leave a greasy residue; but what it does leave is a beautiful touch of radiance that helps cast away those shadows instantly.

Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Vitamin C Serum - Like a potent vitamin for the skin, this lightweight fluid serum brightens the skin and tones in its wake. I love that this feels like a toner in texture, which makes it great for layering under other products.

Perricone MD Multi-Action Overnight Treatment - Do yourself a favor (if you can remember), before you go to sleep slather this gem of a night treatment all over skin for a boost by morning. This will help prevent dehydrated and puffy morning skin, while leaving it feeling buttery soft and hydrated.

Last Minute Gifts: Perfume Picks

Last Minute Gifts: Perfume Picks

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

So much so, that it's snowing as I type this post. I did pop up a full gift guide for the beauty lover about a month ago, but if you're like me (a major gift-procrastinator) and you're stuck last minute wondering to get, an enchanting perfume is always a good idea. You really can't go wrong with a beautiful fragrance, as long as you pick one that you think would suit the wearer. I've put together a list of some of my favorite recommendations; these are the scents that always cause heads to turn in passing. Just browse below and choose the ones that you think will make the special ladies in your life happiest...

Byredo Bal D'Afrique - I discovered this fragrance by Swedish brand Byredo in a set earlier this year, but have since fallen in love with this fruity meets woody scent. Notes of bergamot, lemon, violet, black amber, cedarwood, and african marigold conjure up memories of Paris in the 1920's. The result is a smooth, grown-up sweet, sheer green fragrance that is nothing short of addictive. You've been warned.

Tom Ford Black Orchid - A sumptuous, decadent scent that's both feminine and edgy at the same time. Black truffle, vanilla, fruit and floral accords create a rich scent that seamlessly mingles florals with creamy almost-edible notes. This is one of those notice-me scents that smells better as the day progresses and lingers on clothing post-wear. A true new classic.

Chloé EDP - The OG Chloé scent is their best yet in my opinion! It's sophisticated and sparkling, a dream scent for a true girly-girl. I love that though it uses so many bright florals like magnolia, rose, and peony, it still maintains a grown-up appeal and a certain warmth thanks to a base of honey, cedarwood, and amber. I've loved this scent for years and don't think I'll ever stop.

Byredo Mojave Ghost - Notes of sandalwood, amber, musk, and florals combine to create a dreamy warm floral that sits close to the skin. I absolutely love this scent and how it manages to be light and dreamy, yet provide so much depth at the same time. It's a great scent for year-round wear, and could the packaging get any dreamier?

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt - A true stunner of a scent, this combines the earthiness of the rugged coastline with the saltiness of the air, and is grounded by an almost damp hint of lush greenery. I've yet to meet someone who doesn't love this, so it's a sure bet for the picky fragrance-wearer. Notes include ambrette seeds, sea salt, driftwood accord, white musk, sage, and dry fruit.

Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace - If you can't already tell, I'm a huge fan of these scents. This is one of my favorite for the colder months, for obvious reasons. The brand really has managed to bottle the scent of a crackling fire in a ski lodge (in the Alps, please) and even the warmth of resinous wood. I swear it's so realistic that it even makes me feel warmer. The notes include pink pepper, orange flower, clove, chestnut accord, vanilla accord, cade oil and more.

Have you tried any of these fragrance picks?

The Last Year Of My Mid Twenties: What I've Learned

The Last Year Of My Mid Twenties: What I've Learned

Yes, it's true. 2016 marks the end of my mid-twenties, officially. *Sobs* In March of 2017, I'll turn 26, so I thought I'd do a post that's a bit more emotional than I'd normally get while talking about travel and face creams.

The truth is, your mid-20's are actually one of the toughest times in your life. I started writing in this little corner of the internet that I call mine, in the spring of 2014. A little over two years later and so much has already changed. I've switched jobs, built new relationships, seen new places and gained new perspective. It's incredible to me that I've been able to share, even bits and pieces with a community here, and while some would argue that the depths of beauty and lifestyle blogging are shallow, I believe that opening up and reaching out to others with similar interests can only be positive. So, here I am in my last month of my last year in my mid-twenties (mouthful), and I thought it would be nice to mark this little milestone with a something a bit deeper than a bottle of perfume. These are the lessons I've learned over the last few years, and what I hope to do better going forward...

Embrace Who You Are
Seriously, we spend so much of our teenage years - like during high school, college, and maybe beyond - caring too much about what others think. I like to think for the most part I've always been pretty comfortable with myself, but there were definitely times when I've questioned whether or not I really should be. That's most likely because I've always been a bit of an introvert, but as I've gotten older I've started taking the time to get to know myself - my strengths and weaknesses, my likes and dislikes - and I've begun factoring those pieces of information into the equation more often. It's so important to step back and look at yourself from a bit an objective standpoint, know the in's and out's of you and who you are. You'll be able to better define your boundaries, set realistic goals, and even figure out what type of people you should be surrounding yourself with. And please, stop comparing yourself to others too much, you need to be the best version of you, and only you can know what that means...and also, there's always two sides to every equation. You never know someone else's whole story just like they'll never know yours. If you are happy in your own skin, it will radiate, and maybe even rub off on others who could use the encouragement.

Take EVERY Opportunity
This is a big one. As I said, I've always been an introvert. I've branched out more as I've gotten older, but I have also always struggled a bit to put myself out there. I basically know what I'm comfortable with and who I'm comfortable with, and don't love forcing myself outside that box. I would miss certain social opportunities that involved people I didn't know well, and sometimes doing things I wasn't sure I'd be good at. But, when I graduated college and it came time to look for a job and network, I was truly forced to push my boundaries. Sure, I've always done so in certain ways, like travel. I'll cross the ocean alone to explore new places, no problem, but ask me to do a bit of public speaking and you might not hear from me for a week. So, since being out in "the real world" I've tried to force myself to do things I wouldn't normally want to do, that I know would help me grow. What doesn't kill you, actually will make you stronger. Your mother was right about that one. So, I finally realized how important it was to take every opportunity, whether it's meeting up with someone new, going on an intimidating interview, and I now find myself working toward my goals everyday, no matter the obstacles. I push myself, and make sure I never miss out on an opportunity - because who knows - you could meet the love of your life, find your dream job, or see the world in the process of stepping outside the box.

It's OK To Admit Fault
This is something I couldn't pin down for years. But, let me tell you, part of growing up is taking responsibility for yourself, your actions, and even standing up for your beliefs. Although it may look this way sometimes, everyone is not always perfect, and not always ok. We all make mistakes - it's part of our job description as *humans*. Admitting defeat is much more heroic than pretending it's all okay sometimes. You never know, someone else may be in the same situation and lend a helping hand, or even become much more empathetic to your mistake when they learn what happened, or that you are able to take responsibility.

Know Who's Important
This is a tough one, but something that I think everyone needs to be more careful of as they grow older. When we're younger, we have so many friends, and as we get older, we tend to lose common interest with many of them. It's okay to let some relationships go, but that doesn't mean it has to be done in a negative way. Don't feel guilty that you've lost interest in certain people; you may not have anything in common with them, and maybe they're just not the type of person you need in your life. Like I said earlier, get to know yourself, so that you can really decide who these people are and, of course, then nurture the remaining friendships and relationships you have. Don't be selfish, they do take caring for.

What did you learn in your early-mid twenties?

The 5 Best Moisturizers For Beating The Winter Blues

The 5 Best Moisturizers For Beating The Winter Blues

Winter blues are a serious skin issue - I swear. You know, the way your skin screams "feed me" moisture and nutrients as soon as the temperatures drop? The best way to combat these so called blues are by keeping a good diet, and of course, slathering on a seriously hydrating moisturizer. And trust me, while moisturizers are the most oversaturated product on the skincare market, that's exactly what makes it so hard to find a good one. After sifting through piles and piles of creams and goos over the past few years I have found the few very best that are sure to suit every skin type and budget...while keeping that glow even when it snows!

For Oily/Dehydrated Skin - You may be asking how you can possibly have oily and dehydrated skin at the same time, but hear me out! Oily skin just produces excess oil, but it doesn't mean your skin is always well hydrated - it may mean quite the opposite, which is what's causing the overproduction of oil. Healthy skin needs balance, just like a diet. Feed your skin moisture with lightweight products that absorb quickly and easily, yet bathe your skin with moisture. Try Sunday Riley's Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream for gel-like moisture and gentle exfoliation using fruit enzymes. If you have more sensitive skin and prefer to steer clear of exfoliating acids, try Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Release, with time-released moisturizing capabilities. It feels like a tall glass of water for your skin.

For The Driest Skin - Darphin Lumiere Essentielle Illuminating Oil Gel Cream is a gel-oil cream (so good), meaning it provides the skin with some really seriously silky smooth moisture while maintaining a lighter texture. I am all for the glow it brings my skin when using this as well, and my skin stays hydrated throughout the day. As for a serious skin treat, I'll sing the praises of La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream Sheer once more. You all know how much I love this cream, and if there's any one product you're going to major league splurge on it should be this rich, decadent cream that sinks into the skin immediately. This moisturizer is just the ticket to baby soft, poreless skin that's perfectly balanced.

For An Overnight Glow - Sometimes, you need to wake up to glowing skin, and not have to rely on layering up products before running out the door. Well, the solution is a great, moisturizing night treatment. I love Perricone MD's Multi-Action Overnight Treatment for just that purpose; it goes onto the skin like a thick frosting but manages to settle down almost immediately. It feels so nourishing almost instantly, but what's even better is the feeling of your skin when you wake up. It feels plumped, fine lines are lessened, and dry patches gone. Every girl and guy needs a tub of this in their life!

My Favorite Candles To Give As Gifts

My Favorite Candles To Give As Gifts

In the wise words of Oprah, when it comes to holiday gift-giving I'm all for the "You get a candle! You get a candle!! Everybody gets a candle!" mentality. The only question is, how do you choose a candle that portrays a bit more effort than a quick stop at one of those mass-producing candle stores? You know who you are! While there is nothing at all wrong with those, when it comes to gift-giving I like things to look a bit more "special." These are my most recommended candles for gifting, to ensure everyone gets a beautiful, bespoke scent.

Maison Marie Louise Le Long Fond - Not only is the inspiration for this candle beautiful - the company owner's grandfather's garden in Belgium - but so is the scent. Notes include hinoki wood, cedarwood, patchouli and white musk and the combination is savory, yet green and musky at the same time. I absolutely adore the way these notes mingle in this candle, it's reminiscent of amber and thus the perfect cozy winter candle.

Boy Smells Cedar Stack - This up-and-coming coconut-oil based candle brand is the cool girl (boy? not sure) of the bunch. It's reasonably priced so that you can give one and keep one, and the scent variety is also incredible. My personal favorite is Cedar Stack, which smells just like drinking a gin and tonic next to a fire in a log cabin. Tell me you're not intrigued now...

Diptyque Benjoin - I will you save you the Diptyque rant here; we all love them. But, if you do go with Diptyque I suggest trying a scent that is different than the always-seen Baies and Figuier (which are lovely, don't get me wrong). I just love how warm this caramel and vanilla inspired scent is, yet how it's not overtly sweet like most. Think of it more as woodsy meets confectioner...it's heaven!

Krigler Pleasure Gardenia - This small, couture parfumerie has been around for over 100 years. It's a true candle indulgence, but it's so worth it in the same sense that a beautiful personal fragrance is. It was inspired by a garden in Kyoto and, of course, gardenia is the star of the show here. But, what makes it so unique is the vanilla, mimosa, and jasmine that give it a sweeter, softer floral edge. I also think the jar and label are beautiful, and perfect for keeping after the candle has burned.

Cire Trudon Balmoral - Cire Trudon is known as the actual king of all candles (it was the official wax brand to the King of France), but this scent in particular is so unique and wonderful for this time of year. It features the smell of dew-covered herbs in a foggy field somewhere in lush green Scotland, and has an almost minty edge. It's soothing and green but so addictive that I must warn you prior to purchase - you may feel the urge to keep this!

I've also linked some other favorites down below, so there's no excuse to not have a gift for someone this Christmas!

A Holiday Season De-Stress

A Holiday Season De-Stress

We're nearing the end of a long week in the midst of the holiday rush. Between work and shopping, menu and travel planning, it seems the to-do list just keeps getting longer. I'm convinced it does every year, and the older I get, the more I imagine it will continue to do so. So, while complaining is always one option, what about a bit of pamper time right in the middle of that busy schedule? I mean, the list can wait, if only for a half an hour while we take a bit of a "me break."

To me, nothing relaxes quite like bath and body products infused with the soothing properties of aromatherapy. Aveda is great for just that - and I swear - they have something for pretty much everyone and every ailment. Oh, and these products certainly wouldn't disappoint as gifts either! Who doesn't love a bit of a soothing treat?

Here are my current favorites from the line:

Creme Cleansing Oil & Body Moisturizer - I've found my new favorite shower obsession! This creme cleansing oil is nothing short of incredible, as it lathers gently but leaves a moisturized feeling to the skin. I also swear that the layer of moisture that it leaves behind also helps with fragrance longevity, not to mention smells amazing on its own. Add a layer of the über-rich accompanying moisturizer and you'll be defeating the winter-skin  blues in no time.

Body Polish - Scrub away your troubles with this smoothing polish that refreshes your skin and moisturizes at the same time. I love how baby soft my skin is, and I also find this scent to be perfect for groggy mornings - I swear it clears your head!

And this insanely irresistible multi-purpose oil. Aveda makes amazing oils that can be used as bath additives so soften and scent, or as body and hair moisturizer. Although, the rosemary mint scent is probably my all time favorite one, because it's calming and awakening at the same time, thanks to that hit of uplifting peppermint.

First Impressions: Rodial

First Impressions: Rodial

Rodial is one of those brands I've been meaning to try for ages. The creative product names combined with promises of "plumped juicy" skin definitely spoke to me. So, after finally having given some of the products a proper go, I am here to dish my thoughts on each...

Rodial Snake Eye Cream O2 - I absolutely love the cushion-like texture of this eye cream. I'm someone who can be quite lazy about eye cream application, so one has to be truly enjoyable for me to reach for it daily. This one soothes my tired eye area and breathes life - literally, with oxygen - into my dull, dark undereye area. I also love how it helps with concealer application post-use.

Rodial Suede Lips - These soft, matte lip crayons are right up my alley. I knew as soon as I unpackaged these that they'd be favorites, and boy was I right. I love the creamy, but lightweight and pigmented formula that washes lips with stain-like color that's still opaque. They are the perfect way to wear mattes in the winter, as they're nondrying! My only complaint is I'd like them in even more colors, please and thank you

Rodial Palette - This is one of the few palettes I've encountered where every single shadow shade serves a purpose. I love the mauve-leaning neutral range of colors and how smooth and buttery the shadows are. This palette is also incredible for creating looks ranging from natural to vampy for nighttime thanks to the inclusion of a black shade. I'm a big fan of the number of matte shades included in this palette as well.

All in all, so far I am quite impressed withe the line. I think I will definitely be picking up some more products from them soon enough! What are your favorites from Rodial? I'd love to hear which products you love!

Rules To Follow For Longer, Healthier Hair

Rules To Follow For Longer, Healthier Hair

I put my patience to the test over the last year, after deciding to grow my hair for the first time since I was a young teenager. I've always loved the feeling of a fresh cut, and so have always went for the chop more often than not. I figured it was time for a bit of a change, and after a full year of growing my hair from what was practically a bob, to this, I have quite a wealth of tips on how to get the best results while maintaining healthy hair. Here are the most important rules to follow if you're beginning (or in the midst of) your hair growth journey AND product recommendations to help you along the way:
  • Color As Little As Possible - I say this knowing that some people can't avoid coloring their hair. However, if you're like me and don't yet have grays, but like to add a bit of color, try balayage instead of an all over color or highlights. This will allow a one-time color-job to get you through an entire year without having to over-process your hair with all those harsh chemicals. I'm loving the balayage for its low-maintenance approach to a sunkissed color. If you do have all-over color, however, try only touching up the roots each month, instead of re-doing the entire length of your hair. Less dye = healthier hair!
  • Ignore The Myths - ...I mean, the myths that say trimming your hair monthly will help you grow longer, stronger hair. This isn't true! If you get monthly cuts, or even every other month, you will most likely lose most of the growth you had from the last 30 days. Unless you truly trust your stylist to only take off a quarter-inch, than stay away until you've reached your desired length (or until you can't stand the split ends anymore). I haven't had a cut in about a year, and though I have a few split ends that I can't wait to wave goodbye to, there are products and styling tricks to hide those until you get to the perfect length.
  • Quality Styling Tools - If you don't use them, skip over this tip - also, if you don't have to, I'm so jealous! But, if you, like me, heat style your hair, then investing in quality heat-styling tools is another key step to maintaining healthy locks. I used to use a hair dryer that made my hair feel less than smooth, and that certainly wasn't helping my hair to grow. Also, make sure you're using a straightener or curler with a protective plate that doesn't tug and pull your hair during use. I highly recommend investing in a great straightening iron (I use for curling only) like the GHD Platinum, and certainly a quality hair dryer, like the InStyler Blu Ionic Dryer (currently hosting a giveaway over on instagram for this!) or the GHD Air Hair Dryer
  • Protect From Heat - This is something I always think should remain a part of your haircare system. Even if you're not big on using hair styling products, use something that creates a barrier between your hair and the heat. I personally use a few different types of products when using heat stylers, such as a leave-in conditioner or hair strengthener, an oil on the ends to create slip, and a heat-protecting hair spray before curling.
  • Brush Less - This may sound strange, but hear me out. Brushing your hair, especially quickly and harshly, can lead to breakage and split ends. I've found that brushing less creates less splitting and fraying at the ends, so I limit myself to brushing only when I get out of the shower or am blow drying my hair. Refer back to the heat protection tip for this one as well, making sure that when you do brush, you have used some sort of product to create slip and lessen knotting, such as an oil or leave in conditioner. Trust me, the less breakage, the less often you'll need a cut.
Follow these tips and you'll be well on your way to long, strong, and healthy hair! I swear it's much easier than it looks. Don't forget to scroll below for my top product recommendations.

Everyone's Favorite Body Oil Is Also A Beautiful Fragrance

Everyone's Favorite Body Oil Is Also A Beautiful Fragrance

If you have any interest - any whatsoever - in beauty, you will have heard of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. And if you have heard of it, and perhaps tried it, then I'm positive that you are gaga for the scent. It's one of those crowd-pleasing scents that can do no wrong. I even swear that whenever I use the oil, the cozy fragrance boosts my mood and gives me a sense of overall comfort and wellbeing.

So, you can imagine how excited I was to try the perfume that was inspired by this wonder-oil. The warm feminine floral is evocative of a beautiful sunny day in Paris itself. It's meant to smell like "sunshine and warm sand with notes of orange blossom, magnolia, and vanilla." I'm absolutely head over heels for the scent; it's seductive and attention-getting in the best possible way.

Have you tried the Prodigieux Le Parfum before?
